From Bookstore to Rooftop: A Journey of Yoga, Joint Health, and Inspired Living

I’ve always wanted to shout from a rooftop and share the revelatory news about joint health, peace, and Avita Yoga! Here’s how it went down…

Back in March, Lori and I were in downtown Boulder to join a couple of friends for dinner. We were intuitively guided to the Boulder Bookstore to discuss hosting a book signing for “Mobility For Life.” We walked in the door, and there was our dear friend and owner, David Bulduck. It was a beautiful reminder to always trust intuition.

In my early days of teaching, way back in the 1990s, David would roll the giant bookshelves out of the way on the second-floor “ballroom,” and I would teach yoga to him, his friends, and employees. Years later, he attended classes with me at Yoga Loft in South Boulder.

Anyway, David not only promised us a book signing, but he also invited us in and gave us a surprise tour of the entire building, which included his office and an “escape hatch” window, and onto the roof! How could we resist? We followed him through the window, up a short ladder, and onto the upper rooftop, where we snaked our way through a maze of air conditioners to the highest point overlooking Pearl Street, and, of course, enjoyed amazing views. David shared stories about his fearless life in the 1970s, and starting the bookstore on a shoestring with heartfelt conviction.

As we turned to rewind our way toward the window, we noticed our friends whom we were meeting for dinner. Lori called them and said, “Look up!” There we were, waving our arms high above Pearl Street like a couple of high school cheerleaders. So fun!
